are basically like nothing you see in other games in the series, since they focus on grey, concrete cities. Rendai Fields, the forest and river paths etc.
#Like a dragon ishin best style series#
Kenzan has a gorgeous series of areas that is classic Sega. Learning new moves in Ishin = doing certain content, unlocking a move in a training tutorial, then grinding for several hours to then unlock it after the game locks it away again. Learning new moves in Kenzan = play the story and visit training areas once per chapter for new moves. All flash, no substance (and yeah Im aware that Yakuza isnt a deep series combat wise which makes that even more damning) Ishin is hilariously unbalanced and half the styles arent particularly fun to use. Each style has its pros and cons and has its uses for different encounters. Something that you absolutely cannot say about 90% of Ishin's Kenzan Majima is a vastly more complex and better character compared to Okita/Majima in Ishin, who's basically just Majima cosplaying as a samurai.Ĭombat in Kenzan is well thought out and balanced. RGG has always been a series that does a good job of mirroring the time period, Kenzan is no different and shouldnt effectively be censored.Ĭharacters are well fleshed out, unique and get good character arcs. One could complain perhaps about the tone in which certain subjects are handled, but pretending they didnt happen in that time period is basically erasing history. Kenzan rocks, here's why:Ī plot that doesnt shy away from realities of the time. Of course they could do players a favor and have stuff unlock far faster/easier compared to the original, because otherwise it'll be hours upon hours of battle dungeon before you unlock stuff like the Tiger Drop and other counter moves.Ĭlick to shrink.Nah, your completely wrong. The trailer also does an amazing job to hide one thing - that to get most of those really fun moves it expects you to grind for hours on end to unlock them all (its like, far longer of a grind compared to the one some will have done in 7, as a comparison). because if the game ends up expecting you to abuse cards for fights (boss fights especially) I'll be deeply disappointed (and Im hesitant to believe they wont fuck up a remakes combat for a third time in a row.) In a vacuum that trailer is great, certainly does a good job showing off 3 good fighting styles (sorry, Gunman will forever suck, its the most boring style ever to grace a RGGS game, and it still looks bad here) but the fact that RGGS is going in so deep with cards in the remake (something the original didnt do, keeping them to only one mode) has me weary.
